Reiki Renewal: Reshma's Journey to Holistic Well-Being

My relationship with Reiki didn’t begin as a career path. It began at one of the most vulnerable moments of my life.
Twenty six years ago, when I was pregnant with my daughter, our world changed overnight. After the 20 week scan we were told to prepare for the worst. It was the kind of news that stops time. In that moment everything becomes uncertain and the future you had imagined suddenly feels very fragile.
During that time I met a beautiful soul who offered to give me Reiki every single day until my daughter was born. She refused to charge me. She simply said she wanted to help.
At that stage I didn’t fully understand Reiki. I didn’t know about energy systems or lineages or techniques. What I did know was that those sessions brought a sense of calm and strength when everything around me felt overwhelming.
Day after day I lay there and received Reiki, not really knowing what to expect, only feeling that something supportive was happening. Looking back now, I truly believe those sessions played a profound role in our journey. My daughter is here today, living her life in ways that once felt impossible, and in my heart I have always carried deep gratitude for the Reiki that supported us during that time.
After she was born, life quite naturally took over. My role as her mother and carer became the centre of everything. Like many carers, I poured all of my energy into supporting someone else. Reiki slowly drifted into the background of my life, not intentionally, but simply because caring for my daughter required so much of me.
Years passed.

And then there came a time when that caring role took me to emotional depths I had never experienced before. The exhaustion, the worry, the responsibility. It all built quietly over time until I realised I had completely lost touch with myself.
It was during that period that Reiki found its way back into my life.
Returning to Reiki felt like coming home to something I had forgotten I needed. The same calm, the same sense of being held and supported began to return. Reiki helped me reconnect with myself, with my own wellbeing, and with a steadiness I had lost along the way.
It reminded me that carers need care too.
That experience changed something deeply within me. I didn’t just want to receive Reiki. I felt a strong pull to learn it, to understand it, and eventually to share it with others.
This is what led me to train in Jikiden Reiki, a traditional Japanese form of Reiki that stays very close to the original teachings. What resonated with me about Jikiden Reiki is its simplicity. There are no unnecessary layers or elaborate rituals. It is direct, grounded and incredibly powerful.
Today Reiki is at the heart of the work I offer through Asai Healing Therapies. Every time I practise, I am reminded of that young pregnant woman lying on a treatment couch all those years ago, not knowing how important those sessions would become.
Reiki supported me through one of the most uncertain chapters of my life. It helped me find my way back to myself when I felt completely lost.
And now, being able to share that same support with others, especially those who spend so much of their lives caring for everyone else, feels deeply meaningful.
Because sometimes the people who give the most care are the ones who need it the most.
If you’re ready to explore the transformative power of Jikiden Reiki and holistic therapies, I invite you to reach out. Let’s work together to create a healing plan that honors your unique needs and supports your journey to renewal, balance, and true well-being.
Your path to healing begins with a single step. I look forward to walking it with you.
